The mayor serves as the city\u2019s chief elected official and presides over the City Council, which functions as the legislative and policy-making body. From among its members, the council elects a mayor pro-tem annually to serve in the mayor\u2019s absence or when otherwise required.<\/p><p data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"1038\">The City Council holds the authority to adopt ordinances, resolutions, and regulations that govern the city\u2019s operations and ensure the welfare of its residents.
