One of the most important utilities provided to any community is its electrical energy. The City of Fort Valley electric department ensures a reliable and economical source of energy for all its customers – residences, schools, institutions, businesses and industry throughout its service area. The lifestyle of the city’s residents depends on it; businesses stake their productivity and profits on it.<\/p>

The Fort Valley Utility Commission<\/a>\u00a0serves Peach County, as does\u00a0Georgia Power Company<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Flint Energies<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Natural gas is available to residents of Fort Valley and Roberta as well as areas in Peach and Crawford Counties.

There are approximately 4,000 customer services in the system. The gas is piped from a Southern Natural Gas cross country high pressure gas line located outside Culloden and distributed to customers over 84 miles of mains from 2-6 inches in diameter.

Although the gas is used primarily to heat homes, the system also supports several large industrial and commercial users that use the gas for their production needs. The gas department’s customers consume 500 thousand cubic feet of natural gas monthly.

Fixed and interruptible gas rates are offered as well as future hedging for industrial customers.

Four gas operators have Class I certifications and one gas operator has a Class III certification.\u00a0 The Gas Superintendent is a\u00a0State Gas Operations and Safety instructor.

The Fort Valley Utility Commission<\/a> provides water and wastewater along with other services.\u00a0 The water system includes six wells and three water treatment plants with five licensed operators serving Fort Valley, Georgia and parts of Peach and Macon counties.
